BIOGRAPHY:
`LIRA` chamber choire from Rijeka was founded in 1996 and consists of 17 singer members. Since 2004 they have been working under the artistic guidance of Doris Kovačić.
`LIRA` has a colourful repertoire. They perform songs of different styles, from renaissance to contemporary songs written by foreign and Croatian composers. They sing Croatian folk songs, especially those composed in the so called `Istrian scale`. Of course, we mustn`t forget to mention arrangements of modern songs and negro spirituals.
`LIRA` has given many concerts in Rijeka and the surroundings, in Zagreb and abroad (Slovenia, Italy, the Czech Republic). They hold regular Xmas and Easter concerts and humanitarian concerts. They take part in different choir gatherings such as: `Naš kanat je lip` in Poreč and `Kanat pul Ronjgi` in the picturesque town of Ronjgi just above Rijeka.
They are often invited to book presentations and exhibition openings. They also have an excellent cooperation with other choires.
Two years in a row, they came 2nd in Concorso Internazionale `A. Seghizzi` in Udine and Gorizia in Italy.
This year, they are preparing to take part in the biggest choir competition in the world, the International Choir Olimpycs in Graz, in Austria.
